World and Paralympic Champion Cyclist, Jody Cundy OBE, joined renowned local business leaders, Gordon Black CBE, of Black Family Investments, and Tim Dewey CEO of Timothy Taylor at a Family Business Networking Lunch held at Broughton Hall, Skipton.

The event, hosted by Armstrong Watson Accountants, Business and Financial Advisers, Gordons Solicitors and HSBC, brought together family business figureheads from across the region for this unique opportunity to listen to the insight and experiences of prominent business leaders and to hear inspirational stories.

I was amazed to see the comment in the press this week that “SME’s dodge the most tax” following figures released from HMRC showing that small to medium sized businesses are responsible for 51% of the £5.2bn “tax gap” between what is owed and what is paid.

This year sees Armstrong Watson celebrate 150 years of supporting, advising and protecting clients. To commemorate the occasion, we commissioned award-winning artist Helen Perkins to capture the portraits of 10 of our family business leaders, sharing their stories and highlighting their relationship with us.

As a thank you for the support we’ve received over the past 150 years, our ‘Face Forward’ project is now touring all our office locations, with showcase events hosted across the regions and all of our clients invited along to celebrate with us.

Captured on canvas by an award-winning artist, the pioneering Face Forward project portrays family business leaders as never before in a work of celebration.

Professional artist Helen Perkins launched the project last December in association with CN Group's in-cumbria business magazine and Armstrong Watson, the leading independent financial and business advisory company in the north of England and Scotland.
