Following the death of my grandmother, I had been helping my grandfather sort out his affairs. He wanted to get everything in order but was unsure how to go about doing so and wanted minimal disruption to his life in that he was not keen on having to go and sit in an office with someone he didn’t know or who didn't understand his situation. We were referred to Armstrong Watson following completion of a Will as it came to light that there was going to be a large inheritance tax liability upon his death. We were unsure what we could do to try and mitigate this given the fact that the majority of the wealth was in property. There was also a complicated family history and therefore it was important to my grandfather that he retained control over his assets.

Not only have we been able to potentially mitigate any inheritance tax liability of what we thought was originally going be over £150,000, we have been able to get everything in order exactly how my grandfather wanted while allowing him to maintain the aspect of control. He also has peace of mind that his wishes will be adhered to when he is no longer with us.
