Chris has joined Armstrong Watson from accounting firm MHA Tait Walker where he was an Associate Partner in their Corporate Finance team.
Chris has extensive experience across a wide range of sectors, helping Directors and shareholders plan for the future of their businesses. This includes solving client problems with a practical commercial style. He works proactively with businesses and their owners as a trusted adviser, using his considerable experience to deliver value and assisting with challenges and long-term planning.
Chris will also play a key part in helping to meet Armstrong Watson’s ambitions to develop a stronger presence in the North East, where the firm has already established itself but wishes to create a strong local presence as a leading firm in its chosen markets. Having spent two and a half years as the Chief Operating Officer of the North East England Chamber of Commerce, Chris is perfectly placed to understand the demands of businesses he works with.
Commenting on his appointment, Chris McCourt said,
“I am delighted to join Armstrong Watson as Corporate Finance Partner at a time when the firm is demonstrating real ambition to establish itself in the North of England, the Borders and Central Scotland as a leading adviser to owner managed businesses.
“I believe the North East is a region with fantastic, ambitious businesses that can thrive despite the current economic uncertainty. Given the times we are living in, it is increasingly important that business owners and managers understand what all of their options are - whether they are looking to fund growth, capitalise on new opportunities, manage their business through the uncertainty or realise the value they have built. I believe Armstrong Watson is uniquely placed to meet the needs of North East businesses with a team who provide a real depth of experience and have a genuine commitment to the success of our clients.”
Chris’s appointment continues Armstrong Watson’s investment in their Corporate Finance services and is one of a number of senior appointments in recent months.
Paul Dickson, Armstrong Watson CEO and Managing Partner added,
"We are delighted to have Chris join us. It is essential we have such a focused and ambitious Partner to grow both our Corporate Finance capabilities and the firm as a whole. Chris’ skills, experience and proactive approach complement the Armstrong Watson culture and will greatly benefit the businesses and clients we advise and support as part of our Quest. Our ambition is to grow organically and to be the go to firm for family owned businesses in the North and having a strong Corporate Finance team is a vital corner stone to achieving this.
“Chris joins us at an exciting time as we continue our commitment to strengthen and develop our position as the largest Independent Accountancy, Business and Financial Advisers in the North. He will particularly help us to expand our presence across the wider region.”
