Last month I had the pleasure of being invited to Xero’s Head Quarters, in Milton Keynes to take part in their newly launched Xero Partner Advisory Council (XPAC). The XPAC is made up of carefully selected Xero partners who will help shape the future of Xero from an accounting firm’s point of view.
So what did I learn from the day?
Firstly, that Xero was the right decision.
Back in late 2010, when smartphones were starting to become mainstream and Apple had just launched a tablet thing that many said wouldn’t take off, Armstrong Watson realised that the “cloud” was the way forward for our many clients looking for information they could access on the go at anytime, anywhere and more importantly from any device.
After a gruelling review of the many cloud accounting providers, Armstrong Watson chose to partner with Xero. As time goes by you wonder whether that was the right decision to become a Xero partner and subsequently a Platinum Partner, but after the XPAC meeting and seeing Xero’s plans for the future it cemented in my mind we had and still are, backing the winner.
This view has been supported by the overwhelming support for Xero from our large number of clients who have moved onto the cloud over the last 4 years using Xero.

And secondly, what makes happy customers? Happy Staff
I’d always heard that Xero was a good place to work but again you wonder if it is all hype. Having spent a day wandering around the offices, with many trips to the latte maker and talking to different members of the team it was clear everyone was happy and wanted to be part of Xero.
One of my clients recently told me that when he chooses a manufacturer to make his products he makes an assessment of how happy the workforce are and believes if they are not happy then they will not care about the quality of the product. The feedback I get from my team when contacting Xero Help is how great and personal the responses are, this can only come from happy people.
This is a lesson many businesses can learn from.
