For the 10th year in succession, Armstrong Watson will be sponsoring Angela Cragg in her seasons racing. Angela, from our Penrith office, started riding motorbikes when she was nine and has never stopped.

This year, she will be competing again at a national level within the classic scene of the sport, turning her attention, in the main, to the North East Motorcycle Racing Club championship and the Bob McIntyre Memorial Classic Meeting in June at East Fortune.  The first round of NEMCRC has already been at Croft, at the beginning of April, where Angela got two 2nd & two 1st places within her class.

About the weekend, Angela commented “it was cold but dry & it’s a circuit I’ve never ridden at before, so I attended the test day on the Friday to at least get an idea of where I was going. After that, the aim was to get four finishes, which I did.”

In a traditionally male dominated sport, Angela was actually one of five females entered in this meeting. However, this isn’t usually the case.

Angela comments:
“It’s very rare that there are more than a couple of females entered in a meeting, I’m always interested to see how many ladies there are taking up the sport but I never think about it from a personal point of view.”

The Armstrong Watson sponsorship helps Angela with her entry fees, and along with the much needed general support she gets from the firm when the inevitable happens (two broken collar bones, which according to some of her fellow competitors means she’s a “real racer”) means she can continue fulfilling her passion for the sport.

 Angela said:
“I obviously don’t like falling off, it hurts & it’s expensive but it’s what happens in this sport. It doesn’t put me off racing; I’d just rather not fall off!”
