Winter Economy Plan: Understanding the Job Support Scheme, debt deferral and why now may be the time to cut costs
Following the Chancellor’s announcement on 24th September, views of the Winter Economy Plan and the new phase of Government support measures have been mixed. Two weeks on we will take a deeper look at what these changes mean for businesses and how they might work in practice. Host, Armstrong Watson’s CEO and Managing Partner, Paul Dickson, will be joined by Karen Thomson, Partner & Head of Payroll, who will explain the new Job Support Scheme and how this differs from the previous Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme it is soon to replace, Richard Andrew, Partner and Head of Accounting, will look at changes to loans, grants and tax liabilities for businesses, VAT Director Alex Nicholson will discuss VAT deferral options, and restructuring expert, Heather Bamforth, will offer advice on cash flow forecasting and what to do if your business is facing financial distress.
