Webinar: Navigating the Changes in Employment Legislation, Payroll and Tax, in partnership with Burnetts

Join us for our free live webinar on ‘Navigating the Changes in Employment Legislation, Payroll and Tax’, in partnership with Burnetts

2024 saw a number of important announcements from The Government in the area of employment legislation. The Autumn Budget detailed major updates for employers regarding payroll and tax regulations, most notably to Employers’ National Insurance Contributions and the National Minimum Wage, and in October we also saw the publication of The Employment Rights Bill, promising reforms to workers' rights, including, amongst other items, measures on ‘exploitative’ zero-hours contracts, as well as entitlement to sick pay and parental leave rights from day one of employment.

Our panel of experts will break down the key elements of these announcements, consider the potential impact on employers and discuss how you can navigate the challenges should some or all of the Government's plans come to fruition. As always, we encourage questions before and during the webinar, all of which are handled anonymously.

Speakers:

Karen Thomson, our Head of Payroll, will give her views from a payroll perspective, including the changes to sick pay, zero-hour contracts and parental leave and pay, should the reforms continue through Parliament.

Brian Rudkin, Employment Tax Partner at Armstrong Watson will consider the indirect impact of the Employment Rights Bill for employers, including hiring trends, potential tax implications and the approach to enforcement by HMRC and the wider Government.

David Gibson and Anna Lovett, from Burnett's Employment team will examine whether the key elements of the new proposals in employment law will actually come to fruition and examine the potential impact on employers.
