He has really put my mind at rest about my pension. I have always been rather cynical about financial advisers - but David Squire has filled me with confidence. He isn’t always trying to change investments in an effort to make himself some money - if an investment is working, his advice has been to leave it alone, all the time monitoring it and only changing it if and when he could improve the outcome. The information I’m given is always clear and easy to understand. I have never felt baffled by financial jargon.
What really impressed me was the fact that when my partner went to see my financial adviser about her pension his advice was not to alter the investments as they were doing well. He could so easily have suggested Armstrong Watson took them over in order to create income for themselves.

Extreme professionalism
‘Time is money’, so they say, and we have found that Armstrong Watson takes its time to look after our money well and profitably. Changing financial advisers is rather like changing doctors. There is apprehension at the loss of familiarity and yet a hope that the change may be for the best. Following our adviser to Armstrong Watson, when he moved there, proved to be the wisest decision to have made.
Initially Armstrong Watson and our adviser impressed us with their greater versatility and extensive, in depth knowledge of the financial products available. We could never have hoped to research all this alone, never mind come to terms with all the legal and tax ramifications. Next, of course, comes the constant updating and changes to keep on top of. The introduction of Selestia and Skandia into their dealings has helped us keep pace too. We soon discovered that accountants and solicitors are also accessible, if needed, through Armstrong Watson.
Comparatively ignorant about money matters, as we were at the time, it was a relief to see that we were in the hands of true professionals who knew there was more to money than spending. We do try to understand the nature of our investments and everything is fully and clearly explained to us as many times as we need. A phone call or email is quickly answered if we have a query. There is always a pleasant voice at the end of the line that knows to whom we need speak, if our adviser is temporarily unavailable.
Extreme professionalism is the key to our relationship with Armstrong Watson and yet a friendship and understanding has evolved with our adviser whom it as always a pleasure to see, discuss our business, have a friendly chat and a meal with. We have achieved a working mix of business and pleasure, which promotes our mutual understanding and respect. We feel confident that, as we become ‘ancient’ and unable to keep up with our affairs as we would wish, they will be managed with integrity and with our best interests at heart, thus giving us peace of mind.
